8 Year old Lochie Newman has been chasing the older kids around in training over the winter.
His strength is the bike but for run and swim he just kept showing up and catching on.
The season opener was Greater Springfield QLD Duathlon State Championships.
I was grateful to witness one of the most ferocious racing efforts Ive ever seen.
Loch charged in at 4th place on Run 1. Within 100m on the bike he moved to the front after fly mounting uphill and powering forward like he was trying to bend the frame out of shape.
Upon the bike return a slightly older taller kid crested the hill, shortly after Loch appeared absolutely destroying himself to keep up.
They hit transition and Loch had not given up he charged the last run draining everything he had to take the silver medal.
It was an outstanding performance.
